House Clearance on De Beauvoir Road E8 – Post-Move Clear-Out Case Study

The Clearance and Access

A post-move clear-out is nearly all cardboard, and cardboard is the one material where the load you are quoted and the load you carry are different numbers. Five large moving cartons standing up take about as much room in a van as a small sofa. Flattened, they take almost none. So everything here was broken down at the pile before it went anywhere near the vehicle.

The carry was upward rather than along. The boxes were stacked in the front area below street level, so every armful went up the front steps and out along the path to the road. De Beauvoir Road is wide enough to put the van right by the gate, which shortens the second half of that carry to almost nothing — with three operatives, one flattening at the pile and two running the steps. Responsible Disposal

The load was collected within the London Borough of Hackney and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station. Cardboard and paper were separated for SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK rather than tipped with the general load, which on a job that is mostly packaging is the majority of it by volume — the approach set out on our responsible rubbish clearance page. The Result

The front area and path were clear in a single visit. Nothing was left stacked by the gate waiting on a bulky waste booking, and the cardboard went to recycling rather than into a general skip — which on a load like this is most of what there was.
