The Clearance and Access

Lovat Lane is cobbled, and that is not scenery, it is the job. Nothing wheels across setts: a bin on castors judders and tips, a sack barrow catches every joint. So it leaves the way loads have always left these lanes — carried, an armful at a time. The van could not stop on the lane either: it stood at the nearest legal place, and every armful went out on foot through the side streets. Eighty minutes on site, for a pile two people would otherwise clear in twenty.

The other thing about EC3R is the council. The City of London is its own authority rather than a London borough, built around a daytime population rather than a resident one. That has an edge for a restaurant: there is no household service to fall back on. Responsible Disposal

The load was collected within the City of London and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station. Dry cardboard is the most recoverable waste a kitchen produces, and packing paper goes with it, so this was close to a single clean stream — the approach set out on our responsible rubbish clearance page. The Result
