The Clearance and Access

Not every garage is one you can get a vehicle near. This one sits at the rear of the property — long, narrow and brick, with a door at each end — and it is reached on foot through a side entrance, not from the road. The van had to stand on the street on a single yellow line. There is no loading bay and a vehicle on a single yellow cannot be left standing on its own, which is exactly why three of us came rather than two: one stays with the van, two carry.

Inside, it is barely wider than one person, so only one operative can work in it at a time. The pile was staged by the door while the second carrier ran the side passage, so nobody queued. Two things do not belong in a mixed load: the printer is electrical waste and must be separated for treatment, and the ladders and metal trunk are scrap. Responsible Disposal

The load was collected within the London Borough of Islington and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station. The Result
