The Clearance and Access

This is the opposite of our Islington N1 garage, where nothing could reach the building and three of us worked it. Here the courtyard is off-street, the van reverses into the bay, the tailgate a few steps from the pile. Caledonian Road is a red route, so loading from the main road would be a different proposition — this job never touched it. Off-street access is worth more on a quote than almost anything else. This is what that looks like: one operative, half an hour.

The customer had done the other half. The strip-out was already down and bagged, the debris in sacks rather than loose, and — the part people miss — stacked clear of their own belongings, leaving a lane to the door. Responsible Disposal

The load was collected within the London Borough of Islington and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station. A strip-out is never one waste stream. The plasterboard was kept apart, because gypsum cannot be landfilled with general waste; the copper pipework is scrap with real value; the ceramic pan and basin go with inert hardcore.
