In July 2026, MM Rubbish Clearance cleared a rooftop garden terrace on Burghley Road, Kentish Town NW5, a residential street on the Tufnell Park and Dartmouth Park side of Kentish Town. The customer was clearing out the terrace and everything up there — old chipboard furniture, timber, a metal frame, wire mesh, a barbecue and bagged waste — had only one way out: back through the building and down three to four flights of stairs.

On most jobs the hard part is the loading. On a roof terrace it is the stairs. Nothing up there can be lowered or dropped, so every panel, length of timber and bag has to come back through the terrace door and down three to four flights of an occupied building — turning on each landing, without catching walls, banisters or the door frame on the way.
That is a two-person job by design. One operative works the terrace, breaking the load into pieces that will turn a landing and handing them on; the other carries down and loads, so the van is filling while the terrace is emptying. Long panels and the metal frame go down first, while the stairwell is clear and both hands are free; bags and smaller items follow. The other half of the job is the van. Parking is hard on Burghley Road and the residential streets around it, and every metre between the front door and the van is a metre walked with a load on every trip — getting a space directly outside the property is what kept the carry-down to stairs only. The load was collected within the London Borough of Camden and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station. Timber, metal and general waste each take a different route, so the load was kept separated rather than tipped as one — the approach set out on our responsible rubbish clearance page. A Waste Transfer Note is available on request. MM Rubbish Clearance is an Environment Agency upper-tier waste carrier, licence CBDU418527.
The roof terrace went from a wall of old furniture and timber to open space in a single visit, with nothing dragged across the building's stairs or left on the pavement outside. For a rooftop garden that is the point: the space only works once the clutter is gone, and it can only go one way.
We clear roof terraces, balconies and upper-floor flats across Tufnell Park, Kentish Town and the wider NW5 area. Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift, and what the parking is like outside — those three things decide how the job is planned. Send a photo with your postcode.
