The Clearance and Access

A rear patio in a Victorian conversion usually has no way out except the flat itself. No side return, no gate in the fence — so the route from the patio to the van runs through the customer's own back door, along their hallway and out of their front door. That changes the job before anything has been picked up.

It changed it more here because the cardboard had been rained on. Wet card drips, tears when you lift it by an edge, and leaves a line of grit behind it, none of which anyone wants along their hallway. So it came out in manageable pieces rather than armfuls, carried flat and level, and the patio was swept last rather than first. Responsible Disposal

The load was collected within the London Borough of Islington and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station. A load this cardboard-heavy is largely recoverable, and the packaging was kept separate from the bagged household waste rather than tipped as one — the approach set out on our responsible rubbish clearance page. The Result
