Builders Waste Collection at Portman Square, W1H – Fit-Out Waste Carried Through the Gate in Tonne Bags

MM Rubbish Clearance collected contractors' fit-out waste from a building on Portman Square, Marylebone, W1H. Vans can't drive into the square, so we parked on a side road and came in through the gate. The contractors had already brought the waste downstairs, and our operator, with the contractors helping, loaded about four cubic yards into tonne bags and carried it out to the van.

Who Collects Contractors' Fit-Out Waste in Marylebone?

We do. On this job the contractors working in a building on Portman Square needed their fit-out waste taken away, and had already brought it down to the service area at ground level.

How Do You Collect From Portman Square When You Can't Drive In?

You park nearby and walk it out. Vans can't drive into Portman Square, so we parked on a side road and came in through the gate on foot.

The contractors had already carried the waste downstairs, so we didn't need to go up into the building. Loose cardboard, long tubes and metal offcuts would take many trips by hand, so our operator and the contractors loaded everything into tonne bags, the large woven builders' bags. Then the bags were carried out through the gate to the van. Because the waste was waiting at ground level, the job was about the walk to the van, not the stairs.

After: the same service area at Portman Square, W1H, cleared by 5:16pm.

What Happens to Cable Trunking, Cardboard and Protection Paper?

Metal trunking and offcuts go for metal recycling. Cardboard and the paper floor-protection rolls go for paper and card recycling, and black sacks go as general waste. They are kept apart where possible. The load was collected within the City of Westminster and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station. Contractors need proof their waste was handled legally, so a digital Waste Transfer Note was issued under our Environment Agency registration CBDU418527 (Carrier Dealer – Upper Tier).

How Long Does a Fit-Out Waste Collection Take?

When the waste is already at ground level, not long. The before photo was taken at 5:09pm and the after photo at 5:16pm, about seven minutes apart. The service area was left clear, and the building's own wheelie bin stayed where it was.
