The Clearance and Access

What made this one different was the spread of materials rather than the size of the load. A strip-out produces several waste streams at once — clean timber, plasterboard, sanitaryware, flooring, insulation and packaging all going to different places — and the sorting has to happen as the van is loaded, not at the tip.

The bulk of it was long timber and floorboard lengths, which is awkward rather than heavy: they have to be broken down or stacked properly or they fill a van with air. Three operatives worked it as a chain — cutting and stacking at the pile, carrying, and loading — so a mixed strip-out went out in one pass across a short forecourt. Responsible Disposal

The load was collected on the Islington / Hackney boundary and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station.
