MM Rubbish Clearance collected the renovation waste from a shop on St John Street, Clerkenwell EC1M, near Charterhouse Street. Will You Collect Bags My Builders Left Outside the Shop?

Yes, and on this job that is exactly how it worked. The shop was being cleared and renovated for a new shop. The occupants cleared out the old furniture, machinery and appliances, while the decorators, builders and strip-out team bagged their waste and left it outside, ready for collection.

The hard part on St John Street is stopping. The road is busy and parking had to be reserved, otherwise loading here would have been very difficult. With a space held directly outside the shop, we could load straight from the pavement into the truck without carrying anything along the street.

Who Is Responsible for Shop Waste Once It's Out on the Street?

A business has a legal duty of care for the waste it produces, so bags left on the pavement need to go to a licensed waste carrier, with paperwork. The load was collected within the London Borough of Islington and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station. A digital Waste Transfer Note was issued under our Environment Agency registration CBDU418527 (Carrier Dealer – Upper Tier).

Can Shop Waste Be Collected in the Evening After the Trades Leave?

Yes. This collection was in the early evening, after the day's work at the shop. The before and after photos were taken 19 minutes apart. About three-quarters of a full truck load went on board and the pavement outside the shop was left clear.
