Emergency Rubbish Collection on Church Crescent, E9 – A Late-Night Call-Out Down a Street With One Way In

MM Rubbish Clearance made a late-night emergency collection from a homeowner's front garden on Church Crescent, near Victoria Park in South Hackney, E9. The crescent has only one way in, so our operator had to back the van in. He loaded black sacks, boxes, a suitcase, storage tubs and a portable air-con unit, and the garden was clear about five minutes after the first photo.

Can I Get Rubbish Collected Late at Night in Hackney?

Yes. We offer emergency call-outs, and this collection was made after 9pm on a weekday evening. The homeowner had already put everything out in the front garden, so one operator could clear it in a single visit.

Before: rubbish waiting in the front garden on Church Crescent, E9, at 9:13pm.

How Do You Collect From a Street With Only One Way In?

You plan the exit before you go in. Church Crescent is an enclosed street with a single way in and out, so there is no driving round the block to come back out facing the right way. Our operator reversed the van in, so it was pointing out once loading was done.

The van stopped close to the house, and everything was already in the front garden beside the path. The porch lights lit the path, so it was a short, safe carry in the dark, and nobody had to come back in daylight.

After: the same front garden on Church Crescent, E9, cleared by 9:18pm.

Can You Take a Portable Air-Con Unit With the Rubbish?

Yes, but it does not go in with the general rubbish. Portable air-con units and dehumidifiers hold refrigerant gas, so they are handled as electrical waste (WEEE). See our appliance removal page for more on this. The rest of the load was collected within the London Borough of Hackney and taken to a licensed recycling and waste transfer station. A digital Waste Transfer Note was issued under our Environment Agency registration CBDU418527 (Carrier Dealer – Upper Tier).

How Long Does an Emergency Rubbish Collection Take?

On this job it was quick. The before photo was taken at 9:13pm and the after photo at 9:18pm, about five minutes apart. The path and lawn were left clear. The residents' own wheelie bins and plant pots stayed where they were, because only the items put out for collection were taken.
